Manny (was known as Tiny)
Tiny is a sweet 2 to 2 1/2 year old harlequin male with natural ears and a visual impairment. He is a people friendly boy with lots of interest in exploring his new territory. He originally came from a shelter where he was turned in a second time as a stray. Tiny is partially vision impaired, which makes him want to be close to objects to check them out. His hearing seems to be in perfect condition as he follows the sound of things. He's housetrained, respects baby gates, does not get on furniture and can be left alone for 2-4 hours at a time. He has settled into the foster home very nicely, but does counter sure and tries to escape through the split rail fence. Tiny needs a home as an only dog or with a laid back older female who does not get in his face. He loves people but will only be placed with children over the age of 12 due to his vision problem. Requirements for his new home are a 5’ solid fence, and obedience class for socialization and for leash training. He does walks on a leash, but will pull and he is a strong boy. Therefore, a halti is suggested for future training. Tiny came to MAGDRL in December 2010. (6) - updated 3/19/11
Update 6/4/11 - Not much has changed from Tiny's first write up, he needs a home with an adult family or a family with children over the age of 12. He's very people oriented and loves to be with you. He does need a study 6' fence as if he can climb over a low fence, and knows how to open gates. Tiny doesn't like small dogs or small animals and should either be placed as an only dog or with a laid back female. He's desperate to find a foster home that would work with him. He's house trained, doesn't climb on the furniture and respects boundaries inside the home but will on occasion counter surf or take things off the counter if given the opportunity, like we found out when we left a cake on the counter to cool and Tiny being the gentleman that he was ONLY ate the center of the cake leaving a large hole--hummmmmmm maybe he thought we should fill it with fruit or custard.
Update 11/15/11 - Tiny is a very sweet boy. He eats well and is very gentle when he is given a treat. He loves to be cuddled and to get attention. He will play for hours by himself tossing his ball in the air, or rolling in the grass and sun bathing. Tiny still does not like any thing that is small and can't be in a home with cats, small dogs or any small animals. He is visually impaired, but it doesn't seem to bother him in any way. This big mush adores people and will make a great friend for someone that is dog savvy and has a solid fence that he can not climb.
