Leah

Leah is a 3 year old female harlequin with cropped ears (one up and one down).  She came to rescue when she was hit by a car, although her previous owner brought her to the vet, she realized she couldn’t afford her care.  This process took two weeks from the time she was hit by the car and when she was turned into rescue, unfortunately her healing process and outcome has been greatly impacted by it.  Leah has had her surgery to repair the leg but due to the nasty break and the delay, she’s having a tough time healing.  There is still a possibility that she may lose her leg.  She’s been staying at the veterinary hospital since her surgery, where she’s getting round the clock care, unfortunately it’s taking a toll on her.  Hopefully she’ll be able to go to her foster home soon.  Leah is the sweetest and kindest soul you will ever meet.  She gets along great with other dogs (big and small), cats, and children, she’s such a great ambassador for the breed.  Leah loves everything she meets and is such a happy girl when she’s with anything two legged.  She’s won the hearts of everyone that’s met her at the veterinary hospital.  Leah came to MAGDRL in January.

Update - February 21st

Leah was allowed to leave the veterinary hospital for the weekend to go to her foster home.  I don't know who was more excited Leah or her foster family.  The doctor will re-evaluate her leg next week to ensure that the healing is progressing the way he would like to see.  Hopefully, Leah has done well over the weekend and she'll be allowed to do the remainder of her healing at the foster home.  At this point it looks as if her chances to keep her leg are better than they were previously.  Please keep positive thoughts coming her way for a speedy and optimum recovery.
